Simple Things Sunday

Nothing can warm a soul like a child's laughter . . .

All your children will be taught by the LORD,
and great will be their peace. ~ Isaiah 54:13

21 Months

Another month, another set of milestones. I never really believed just how fast time flies until you came along, sweet girl! You amaze Daddy and I every day with each new thing you learn, and just how quickly you pick up on things. You only need to see something once, and you've got it.

You are wearing mostly a combination of 2T and 3T clothes depending on the length. We started potty training over spring break, and you did great right out the door! We still have a few accidents, but most of them are Mommy's "fault" or because I've let it slip my mind. I'll try to do better, promise.

You are still a little reader, just like Momma. When we go to Church, you cheer when we pull in the parking lot. You march into the nursery and open the book drawer, and go to reading. I hope that reading is a passion that you will always have!

'Scuse me (Excuse me) is probably my favorite phrase right now. I emphasize how important it is for you to use your manners, but sometimes I coax you into saying that just because I love to hear it. You've learned to ask for a slush from sonic, and learned names for so much more food. It's wonderful to have you tell me that you want a pickle, instead of just you're hungry.

You're in love with Aunt "Mee-gan" right now because she always takes you to see the horseys, and to swing outside. You two draw with chalk in the driveway for hours on end.

We took you to the park's playground for the first time a couple weeks back, and you loved it once you learned to climb up and slide down. (The ladder is a little different than the one at our house.) You slid probably 100 times. Your smile can melt my heart no matter what is going on.

You just loved spending time with your Pop (Trey's grandpa) when we went to visit a few weeks back. You made him crawl in the floor of the shop and read to you. I've never seen a bigger smile on his face.

There really is so many new words that you've learned in the past month, there is no way I could remember to list them all. It is so amazing to watch your vocabulary blossom, and think that less than two years ago you were still in my belly. You still love school, and love to color and "chalk" with your friends.

There truly are no words that can express how much we love you, Ryanne. There is no better blessing in life than a child, and we cherish you each day. I pray that we provide everything you need and more, and that you will always adore me as much as you do today.

Honor your Father and Mother

Kelly is sharing about Mother's Day and Father's Day ideas today, so I thought I would share some of my ideas, too. I can't wait to see what everyone else has in store.

I've had my eye on this necklace on etsy for quite a while, and they have a matching one we can get for Trey's mom, too!

I'm thinking about getting one of these wax seal necklaces with Ryanne's initial on it for my Mom and Trey's mom

My Mom has said this to me since I was a little girl, so this is a perfect necklace for her. I'm pretty sure it's my number one pick for her Mother's Day present.

I just love this circle of love necklace, too. I could on for days on Etsy.

I love these cuff links for Trey (or our Dads for that matter) for Father's Day, but we better get done baby making before we buy these ; )

I love this simple keychain, too. Trey's a simple present kind of guy.

Trey wants a new rope bag, well really just one of his own. The one he uses now is an old one of his dads.

I don't ever really know what to get my Dad or Trey's Dad so I usually leave their gifts up to him. He's good at it. Presents for my Mom and Trey's mom are easier : )

We usually also make handmade cards with Ryanne's "signature" for the grandparents.

And I Love Love this necklace for me, so Trey if you're looking for any ideas . . .

I can't wait to see everyone else's Mother's and Father's Day ideas! : )

Things you Should Know . . .

I'm quite strange, er, unique. And there are just some things that are facts of my life that you need to know to be my friend. Or you can choose not to be my friend, but that would be tragic. {I promise I'm not conceited; I'm just teasing!}

I'm a meatatarian. Please don't hate me. I simply could not survive on vegetables.

On that note, the only vegetables I eat are corn, potatoes, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Argue with me all you want, but if they're grown in a garden, they ARE vegetables.

Despite my husband and late grandfather's addiction to westerns, I refuse to watch them. I think its a protest to all the times I was forced to watch them. Read: If there were reruns on, we watched westerns instead. Every. Single. Day.

I have a Mountain Dew addiction, but I don't drink coffee.

I have lived in Arkansas my entire life, in the same town {except when I was in Fayetteville for college}, but hope to move to Texas after I graduate from nursing school. Go Hogs!!

I have never had a cigarette or any illegal substance. I have probably only drank less than a gallon of alcohol in my life. And I only drink mixed drinks. I have to not be able to taste alcohol to drink it.

Our daughter, Ryanne Annaliece, will be 2 on July 9.

I'm type A. I need everything to be planned, and organized. I don't deal with chaos well.

Trey asked me out on dates for MONTHS before I agreed, and then it was only after coercion from a coworker. Thank God he was persistent!!

I changed my major six times after graduating valedictorian from high school. It's totally typical to need six years for a bachelor's degree, right?

I worked in banking for over 5 years in high school and college, but I'm pursing my master's degree in nursing so that I can be a nurse practitioner and/or nursing professor depending on where God leads us.

I love country music and cowboys. Wranglers {or cinch jeans} just make my heart warm.

I'm still madly in love with my husband after three years. He is my best friend and I'm so thankful to God for blessing me with him.

I eat salt on everything. And I mean everything. Pizza, macaroni, steak, popcorn, you get the idea.

I'm very sarcastic and I have a dry sense of humor. Blame it on my Dad.

I love country music. But old country music, REAL country music. Not Taylor Swift.

My resume was much more impressive when I graduate high school than it is today. Ha!

I'm not sappy. I don't cry during movies, and I didn't cry when Ryanne was born. Trey is totally the crier in our relationship. Don't say I told you so. I'll swear you're lying.

I'm a procrastinator. I like things my way. I'm bossy. And I'm demanding. But I'm working on it.

I'm terrified of roller coasters and water. Oh, and I can't swim.

I glow in the dark. But I've come to terms with it. Subconsciously, I think that's part of the reason I married Trey. He's part Indian, and that makes tan babies. Or at least so far it does.

I grew up on a Tennessee Walking Horse and beef cattle ranch, and spent my summers driving tractors and hauling hay. I hated didn't enjoy it most of the time, but today I'd give almost anything to be there again.

If you hate me, that's okay. I can't make everyone happy. And It's better to be myself and be hated for who I am than be loved for who I'm not : )

What I'm Loving . . .

Sorry for the blog hiatus the last few days, y'all! We were out of power all day on Monday, and most of the day Tuesday thanks to the "big storm". It was absolutely crazy. Anyway, on with what I'm loving today.

I'm loving . . . that in less than a month this semester will be over, and I'll have a short {but packed} break before I give up my life for the next two years.

I'm loving . . .  this yellow sundress by Jessica Simpson. I'm really on a yellow kick lately.

I'm loving . . . that we have an Easter egg hunt this Saturday (our community), next Sunday (our Church), and then our family's on Easter. I can't wait to give Ryanne her Easter basket and watch her hunt eggs.

I'm loving . . . this textbook that I got in the mail yesterday. I'm officially a "nursing" student. Ha!

I'm loving . . . Cozi, my new family organizer app. I downloaded it to mine and Trey's phones, as well as my computer. I'm so addicted. I'm a total organization freak, and this is perfect. And free!

I'm loving . . . Totsy and their Mother's day jewelry and frames, lately. I also love all their adorable stuff. Ugh, I could be a professional shopper. But my checkbook wouldn't like it. I bought Ryanne this itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini from there. Isn't it precious?

I'm loving . . . that the weather is back to warm, permanently {for the summer} I hope! I don't do 40 degrees well, especially in April. That's why I live in Arkansas!!

I'm loving . . . these coral wedge sandals from Go Jane. I love their shoes; they are always inexpensive but good quality. I love wedges because they're about the only heels I can balance on while carrying Ry.

I'm loving . . . these mixing bowls by Zak! designs on Rue La La! I saw someone else suggest them, and I've been looking for some great mixing bowls for a long time, and these are perfect!
