14 Weeks, Take 2

Baby Milestones: Baby is about 3.5 in long, and 1.5 oz. Baby's fingerprints are intact now, and now can perform reflexive movements.

Weight Gain: Lost 8 lbs between visit 1 & 2. I'm starting to feel better so I imagine that will be on the opposite trend very soon.

Clothes: I'm still wearing my clothes (and some that haven't fit in a while) but I throw in maternity clothes occasionally for fun.

Gender: We don't know yet but counting the days!

Movement: I felt the first little flutter during the Razorback game Saturday once we {finally} started winning!

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty well, if I remember to go to the bathroom before bed I can usually sleep all night.

What I miss: Cookie dough, but nothing important ; )

Cravings: Food that will stay in my belly. ha!

Symptoms: Still pretty tired and sick, but otherwise good

Best Moment this week: Feeling the first little kick!

Halloween Changed it All

Our first halloween as a married couple, Trey and I had elite plans of costumes and parties and junk food and fun. We were dressing up as a cowboy and cowgirl, in stereotypical fashion. It was simple, and never mind the fact that Trey owns enough cowboy boots to outfit a football team.

I pulled into work at the bank, anxious to get the Friday afternoon over with. Minutes after I walked in the door, slipped on my headset, and assumed my teller responsibilities, my phone rings.

The vibrating against the metal countertop shook me to my core. It might as well have been me vibrating.

I picked it up and slipped into the back to hear the words I already knew were coming.

I had been making the three hour drive between college and the hospital that housed my grandfather's rapidly deteriorating body for weeks. Earlier that week, we had collectively made the decision to take him off life support. His body wasn't his home anymore.

But it didn't make those words any easier to hear. I'm sure my blood-drained and tear-stained face looked pretty halloween-esque as her words sliced my soul.

"He's not here anymore, Leah. You need to come on home."

I walked in a stupor into my boss's office, but didn't have to say a word. She already knew. "Go on home, sweetie. I'll see you when you get back."

I posed as a race car drive as I went to pick up Trey, and we sped down the interstate faster than we should have, but in slow motion all at the same time.

As I turned down the gravel road into Poppa's house, I knew we wouldn't ride horses down it anymore.

No more would he sing "Swing low, sweet chariot" as we raced through the hayfields or put out hay for the cows.

No more would he sneak the good candy into my halloween bucket because he wasn't supposed to have favorites, but I was "as close as they come."

Halloween, or any other day for that matter, would never be the same.

No more new memories would be made, but thankfully I'll cherish the ones I have until I can see him again.

It's Still Me!

Don't worry, it's still me! Don't you love the new design? Jenn from Munchkin Land Designs had a contest on twitter a little while back and I won. I was so excited to work with her and get a new design.

A few of her recent designs. See more here

I've had my eye on a new design for a while, but with everything going on in our lives right now, I couldn't force myself to spend the money so I was so THRILLED when I won her contest. PS: She normally does a contest about once a month so be sure and follow her on twitter. But if you just can't wait, go check out her website and all of the awesome designs she has. She is great to work with, and super speedy especially considering the four kiddos she has to wrangle as well.

*Jenn didn't ask me to say any of this, but I just love her stuff so much I thought I would share the love*

More Fall Favs!

My favorite fall dessert is fudge, well really my favorite dessert period is fudge. You can see my yummy fudge recipe here.

My favorite fall outing every year is going to the pumpkin patch. We used to go to one where you could pick straight out of the field and eat at their homemade cafe afterward, but unfortunately it closed down so no more of that. It is still a fun outing, though. Here is last year's trip and here is this year's trip.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Fall Crafts

When I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do was make pine cone bird feeders with my grandma, so I decided that Ry and I should do it.

So we hunted down some pine cones, which was more difficult than I thought, considering we only have some baby trees & a gum tree in our yard.

First, you slather the pine cone in peanut butter. (Forgive my lack of pictures I was concentrated on keeping the peanut butter on the pine cone!)

Then roll it or dip it in bird seed :) The final result is ready to hang out for the birds!

Here are some other cute craft ideas I've discovered:
I think this is such a cute idea! Now I need to go find some limbs to make these :)
I think this is so cute, too! I just don't know if I'm brave enough to use all that paint.

Favorite Fall Outfit Ideas

Fall is my very favorite time of year for many different reasons, most of which involve the cool weather and the cute outfits that come with it. It's so fun to see other fall outfit ideas to see what I can come up with out of my closet.
I love these boots, the scarf, and the purse. Heck, I love it all, but I love those most.
I love the orange ruffle shirt! Nevermind that orange is my favorite color. And anything with a cardi makes it better in my book.
I'm all about some stripes lately!
Love this casual outfit too. (Notice the orange?)

I can't wait to see everyone else's fall outfit inspiration.

Ryanne says . . .

Ryanne is excited to say . . . .
Mommy and Daddy have a new baby on the way!

Trey and I found out the day after he was admitted to the hospital when he broke his back that we're expecting. Funny how God works sometimes! Baby C #2 should join us around the end of April.

Punchkin Patch

Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch, or as Ry likes to call it the "punchkin" patch. Ha! Gotta love the way little ones pronounce things.

When we got there, I yanked out the camera to go on a picture taking spree, only to get a goofy message from my camera about the shutter being locked out? Apparently, the battery was dead or close to it. It works fine now that I'm home and not trying to take tons of pictures. Oh well!

I snagged a couple good ones on my phone. The ones in the orange shirt are form last year. It's insane how much a year changes babies :)

It still amazes me how much she has grown since last year. She couldn't really talk last year, and really wasn't interested in anything but the animals. This year, however, she loved every bit of it.

I thing she swung on the tire swing for probably an hour. We need to get one at our house. Except then it wouldn't be near as interesting. Because we all know that's how things work in toddler land.

And the silly girl LOVES the color orange, everything orange. If you ask her what color she wants of anything the answer is always orange, but of course when we get to the pumpkin patch full of orange pumpkins, she wants a white one!!

Favorite Things Blog Swap

A little while back, Kodi posted a blog swap of "favorite things' where two bloggers were paired, got to chit chat, and send some of their favorite things to their partner.

This was my first blog swap, and it was so much fun. I can't wait to do more in the future.

Erika was my partner and it has been so much fun to chat with her. She's from Ohio, but I promise I don't hold that against her ; ) and has three adorable kiddos. We emailed it up once I found her original email in my spam (stupid spam folder!) and it was fun to get to know her a little bit. She sent me some awesome goodies!!

First up was the movie 27 dresses. I love this movie but have yet to buy it, but she so sweetly sent it to me.

She also sent me the October Woman's Day issue. It was fun to look through all the fall ideas and crafts.
She also sent this devotional book. I've only gotten through a couple pages so far, but I think I'm going to love it. She was so thoughtful with her choices and it was such a fun experience. Head over to Kodi's blog to see all the other fun goodies that got swapped.

Timberfest

This weekend we went to a local festival called Timberfest. I just wanted to share some pictures from the weekend. It was fun just to relax for a change, which there hasn't been much of lately.

Watching the parade. They were releasing balloons the entire time (not sure if it was accidental or on purpose but they sporadically let about 50 go one by one) and every time, Ryanne got so excited and started yelling that the orange (or whatever color) balloon was flying. So precious.

Friday night, we ran by the football game for a little while, and of course the munchkin had to have a pickle. She loves to watch "fodball" and always yells "go, go, go!" but typically only when they other team is making a big play. We'll have to work on that ; ) But at least she can call the Hogs like no other. I get mom points for that, right?

My sweet girl and I at the football game. She is so fun right now. I mean she always has been, but her personality is so much more vivacious lately.

We went by the petting zoo at Timberfest, and she had so much fun playing with the donkeys, rabbits, goats, and baby pigs.

This was her version of "cheese" at the football game. It was too cute not to share. Hope you all had a great weekend.
