A Firefighter's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
Whenever flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late,
or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout,
to quickly and efficiently put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbor and protect his property.
If according to my fate I lose my life this day,
Please bless with your protecting hand my family, this I pray.
Last Friday, Trey graduated from the Arkansas Fire Training Academy. During his time there, the academy experienced a first: a death of a firefighter during training. May God be with his family during this time of loss. I pray for comfort for his wife and children.

Ryanne clapping for her Daddy! During the ceremony, when Trey walked in, she started screaming "Daddy! Daddy" He had to live at the academy during training, so she was missing her Daddy.

Congrats! It's true, it's not something we, and by we I mean me, think about every day, the idea that firefighters are putting themselves in danger to save lives. Very sad to read about that person dying during training...
So proud of Trey too! I have a really good friend that was at the same school Trey was (he's still there taking classes) and his dad died on duty as a fireman in 2007. I'm glad that they honored the firefighter that passed away.
